Somewhere near the end

I've been away seeing my birth mother. She's 92, and she's in hospital and unlikely to recover.  I've been lucky - I've known her for over 25 years. If you'd like to know more about how I found her, you can read Chapter 6 of my thesis, which is available online here.
Given her age, I knew that this last visit would probably come soon. I was so relieved and pleased that the way it worked out, I was able to get there in time to see her and say goodbye properly. She loves flowers, and blue is her favourite colour.

  1. Thank you for the link to your thesis Anne. I've only read the abstract this morning and I look forward to reading more. I think it is a very wonderful thing that such research is now available outside of university libraries.

  2. Thinking of you, Anne, in this moment of transition.

  3. It was really lovely to meet up with you as you said the good last things to Mary. Having no unfinished business is a good state to be in. (If assurance is sought), be assured that you have done your very best to be in a relation with her that she found satisfying and good.
